The month of June holds significance in Houghton Ireland’s calendar, as Ireland’s largest manufacturing supply chain conference and trade exhibition is held at the Limerick Institute of Technology (LIT) during this month.

An annual, day-long exhibition organised between UK-based trade association GTMA and the LIT, the event attracted near on 1,000 visitors in 2018, serving as a perfect opportunity for Houghton and other manufacturers alike to meet new and prospective customers, whilst showcasing their premium products and service offerings.

This year, the event was held on Wednesday 12th June, featuring an array of leading manufacturers and distributors in their respective industries.

Led by Houghton Ireland General Manager Tomás Moriarty and supported by several members of the Houghton Ireland team, including Equipment Manager Martin Lynch, Strategic Accounts Manager David Hull, Fluidcare Operations Manager Philip Dreaning and Equipment Engineer Damian McGrath, the Houghton stand showcased Houghton’s core products, alongside FluidTrend and comprehensive FluidCare service.

Located a fair two-hours’ drive from Houghton Ireland’s office in Dunboyne, County Meath, the exhibition acted as a perfect opportunity for Tomás, Martin and team to catch up with customers located nearby in Limerick and further afield.

Houghton holds a significant presence in Shannon and nearby Limerick, having 17 customers alone across two nearby industrial estates – with large outfits such as Mincon Group PLC in their portfolio. With over 350 customers located in Ireland, Manufacturing Solutions provides the sales team with an excellent opportunity to catch up with clients that would otherwise take hours to travel to.

“We get a nice mix of existing customers [here on stand], which is always great to see, alongside the opportunity to catch up with customers that we don’t always get an opportunity to get around to.” Tomás explained mid-way through the exhibition.

“Equally, there’s a mix of new companies that we were either aware of, but hadn’t yet secured the business, alongside the opportunity to meet entirely new customers. We’ve received several enquiries today from prospective customers, which is just testament to how important Manufacturing Solutions Ireland is in our calendar.”

With Houghton Ireland extremely competitive in the sale of both metalworking fluids alongside equipment, Manufacturing Solutions serves as the perfect opportunity for Tomás and Martin to showcase their impressive portfolio of strategic and trusted partners.

Dominating with an impressive 8-company-long stand, Houghton showcased their impressive solutions provision to customers by bringing a collection of trusted partners with them, including Wallenius Water Innovation, Filtermist UK, Siebec, Empteezy, Wogaard, Freddy Products and C.C. Jensen.

“We’ve been working [with Houghton] for several years now, and our relationship is only getting stronger and stronger.” Jason Hutt, Managing Director of Wogaard explained.

“To work with Houghton as a key partner is fantastic. We’ve got an excellent partnership and work together on projects – not only at exhibitions but also in providing onsite support such as installations and site visitations.”

This impressive collection of manufacturers enabled Houghton to showcase their consultative capabilities in a hands-on environment, displaying the strong relationships they have with each partner, and in turn the comprehensive service they’d be able to provide new customers with.

Nearing the end of the exhibition, feedback was fantastic from both Houghton employees, trusted partners and clients alike.

“We’re here year on year, and our stand each year is only expanding further.” Strategic Accounts Manager, David Hull reviews. “We’re told next year could even become a two-day event, so it’s a very fruitful exhibition for us.”
