Houghton Launches New Customer Solutions Centre at Manchester United’s Old Trafford Stadium

Old Trafford is better known for being the home of footballing giants Manchester United, but on Monday 22nd May it was the spectacular venue for Houghton plc’s Customer Solutions Centre launch.

The day served to present to customers and partners Houghton UK’s new Solutions Centre and to detail our pending combination with Quaker Chemicals, along with other key messages reinforcing adherence to absolute best practice and safety.

Proceedings kicked off with a few breakfast bites and guests being greeted by the Houghton International Management team, including Mike Shannon (Chief Executive Officer), Kevin Smith (Senior Vice President, President EMEA and Automotive and Aerospace) and Lee Bowditch (Commercial & County Director, Houghton UK & Ireland).

A series of presentations ran throughout the morning session, with the audience paying close attention to Mike Shannon explaining the combining of ourselves and Quaker, which as combined organisations boast 250 years’ industry experience.

Mike, who had flown in from the US specifically for the event, outlined the key reasons for the promising acquisition:

  • To become a stronger and more global company with expanded reach
  • More innovative solutions and enhanced technology
  • Sustainability and long-term opportunities for business

 

Following the opening presentations, our guests were transported to Houghton’s European HQ, Trafford Park, to get an exclusive look at the all new and impressive Customer Solutions Centre.

The centre is a facility designed to nurture innovation for products, processes and solutions tailored to our clients. The guests were taken on a tour of the laboratory facilities, production area and offices, stopping at individual hub locations where structured presentations on HSE guidance, REACh and our Strategic Partnerships with companies like Seco Tool and ETG were provided.

The conference was concluded by us treating our guests to a tour of the magnificent Old Trafford stadium – otherwise known as ‘The Theatre of Dreams’. A prize draw to win signed Manchester United shirts also took place, with two lucky winners.

The 100 guests left the site feeling excited about the direction the Houghton UK business is heading and the support capabilities we are able to offer their companies.
